Who runs this site

Play Bluegrass Music is run by 1337376 B.C. Ltd., a British Columbia company. The company is responsible for the personal information this site collects.

Our privacy officer is MJ Howie. You can reach them at hello@acornwebsites.com. You can also write to 1337376 B.C. Ltd., c/o Davidson Lawyers, 301-3126 31 Ave, Vernon, BC V1T 2H1.

What we collect

When you sign up for the newsletter or the sheet music pack, we store your email address, the page you signed up on, your IP address, and the date and time. We keep that record as proof that you asked to hear from Play Bluegrass Music.

When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

Our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages you request. These keep the site running and help stop abuse.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits for us. It sets no cookies and does not track you across other sites.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data to Google.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses.

The fonts on this site load from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to fetch them, which shares your IP address with Google.

Why we collect it

We use your email address to send you the sheet music pack and Play Bluegrass Music email, and for nothing else. We use visit counts to see what is useful and to fix what is not. We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for targeted advertising.

Who else handles it

A few companies handle information on our behalf. Cloudflare hosts this site and stores the signup list. Google provides analytics and fonts. Ahrefs provides visit counts. Our email provider stores the messages we receive. Stores we link to, such as Amazon, may set cookies in your browser when you click a link, so they can credit the sale. These companies are based in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there and be subject to United States law.

How long we keep it

We keep your signup record while you are on the list. We keep messages for up to two years after our last contact with you. Business and tax records are kept for seven years, because tax law requires it. Google Analytics keeps visit data for up to 14 months. Server logs are kept for a short time and then deleted.

How we protect it

We limit who can see your information. We use accounts protected by strong passwords and two-step sign-in. The site runs over a secure connection (HTTPS).

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our email at any time. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you. You can ask us to correct it or delete it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@acornwebsites.com. We answer within 30 days.

You can block Google Analytics cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site still works without them.

If you live in the United States

We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. We run no ad trackers, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that changes, we will add a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link to every page.

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what we collect, to get a copy, to correct it, and to have it deleted. To use these rights, email us. We answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for asking.

How to make a complaint

If you have a concern, please tell our privacy officer first. We will look into it and reply in writing.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.
